Care instructions for cutting boards and tables

Cutting boards

Always wash both sides of the cutting board, do not let the cutting board soak. Wash by hand and wipe off moisture immediately after cleaning. If the cutting board becomes rough and the wood fibers rise after washing, it is best to lightly hand sand the surface with 800 grit sandpaper and then apply Paraffin Oil or Beeswax.

Don't forget to oil your wooden products regularly, this of course depends on how often they are used and cleaned. More frequent use and cleaning also requires oiling the product more often.

I always oil my cutting boards with Paraffin Oil, let it soak for about 20 minutes and then work Beeswax into the cutting board for extra protection against moisture.

Table

Caring for an oak table treated with beeswax requires a little care, but it is relatively easy and provides a beautiful, natural protection. Here are some care tips to keep your table in great condition:

Daily and regular care:

Wipe the surface regularly:

Use a soft, slightly damp cloth (not wet) to wipe away dust and dirt.

Avoid harsh cleaners, especially those containing alcohol or ammonia – they can dissolve the beeswax.

Wipe up spills immediately:

Beeswax provides some protection, but the wood is still sensitive to liquids. Spills should be wiped up immediately to avoid staining or swelling.

Protect from heat and liquid:

Use coasters for glasses, plates and hot objects.

Avoid leaving damp objects directly on the table for extended periods of time.

Periodic maintenance (every 3–6 months depending on wear):

Clean carefully:

Wipe the surface with a cloth dampened in a mild solution of water and a little natural soap (e.g. linseed oil soap). Then wipe dry.

Reapply beeswax:

Use a clean, soft cloth or oilcloth to apply a thin layer of beeswax.

Work the wax into the wood in the direction of the wood.

Let the wax sit for 15–30 minutes (or according to the manufacturer's instructions), then buff the surface with a soft cloth until it feels smooth and silky.
